Essential Checklist: Items to Prepare for the Delivery Room

Labor and delivery can be unpredictable, so it’s important to have everything you might need ready to go. This checklist ensures you’re well-prepared with the essentials for a comfortable and supported delivery experience, whether at a hospital or birthing centre.

For Mother:

1. Essentials for Labor:

  • Comfortable and easily changeable hospital gown (Before going to the hospital, make sure to wear comfortable and easy-to-change clothing)
  • Warm socks (if labor rooms are cold).
  • Glasses/contact lenses (if needed).
  • Personal birth plan (if applicable).
  • Lip balm (to prevent dryness from breathing exercises).

2. Support for Pain Management:

  • Massage oil or lotion.
  • Heat pack or cold compress.
  • Relaxing music or playlist (if allowed in the hospital).

For Partner:

  • Comfortable clothes and slippers.
